What is farmhopping?
farmhopping.com is an internet platform that bridges the gap between sustainable farms and responsible consumers. Every farm can create a profile on the platform that allows them to share and receive knowledge, build a community around them and seek funds from contributors with different benefits in return such as farm produce, souvenirs, free stay at the farm, etc. On the other side are the farmhoppers – food conscious and eco minded people that are willing to put efforts and funds in the development of the responsible and sustainable farming. Farmhoppers can also create profiles on the platform, share their knowledge, fund farms of their choice and receive benefits in return. The base concept of the Farmhopping platform is to give chance to the people who do not have the physical ability to take part in the development of a sustainable farm, to do it online.

Who can use Farmhopping for fundraising?
The platform can be used for fundraising by farm owners who strive towards developing in a sustainable way and organic produce and need funding for their infrastructure projects or their survival on the market as a whole.
How can I put my farm on the platform?
Just visit the Share your farm read all about it and fill in the Application form. We will contact you in short terms.
Does a farmhopper have any actual ownership over my farm?
No. The farm shares that you offer to farmhoppers are virtual, but not actual. They are limited only to the benefits that you have specified in each farm share package and supporting farmhopper have only the right to receive those benefits in due time.
When do I receive the funds paid by a farmhopper?
Farms will receive their funds within a three month period after its payment by a farmhopper, but not before fulfilling all benefits form the farm share package. The amount transferred to a farm will be the full backing amount minus our fee.
How do I receive the funds paid by a farmhopper?
In order to receive the annual supports you must have an account in PayPal or a valid bank account. We will request that information from you by e-mail.
What is the platform fee for each transaction?
Our operating fee is 10% of each transaction. You may be subject to an additional fee if you do not have a PayPal account and you want to transfer your funds directly to your bank account. In that case we will have to fee your transaction with another 5% which are to cover the PayPal and the operating bank taxes.
We will invoice you for our fee. This fee may be subject to an additional VAT tax (20%) in the following cases:
If you are from an EU country and you do not have a company, or your company is not VAT registered.
If you are from a non EU country and you do not have a registered company.
Here are examples:
If your farm share package is for 200 EUR and you have a PayPal account our fee will be 10% (20 EUR).
- If you are from an EU country but your company is not VAT registered or you are from a non EU country and you do not have a company we will add 20% VAT over our fee (20% over 20 EUR = 4 EUR). Totally your invoice will be for 24 EUR and you will receive in you PayPal account 176 EUR.
- If you are from an EU country and your company is VAT registered or you are from a non EU country and you do have a registered company we will not add VAT tax tour fee. Totally your invoice will be for 20 EUR and you will receive in your PayPal account 180 EUR.
If your farm share package is for 200 EUR and you do not have a PayPal account and you want us to transfer your funds directly to your bank account then our fee will be 15% (30 EUR).
- If you are from an EU country but your company is not VAT registered or you are from a non EU country and you do not have a company we will add 20% VAT over our fee (20% over 30 EUR = 6 EUR). Totally your invoice will be for 36 EUR and you will receive in your bank account 164 EUR.
- If you are from an EU country and your company is VAT registered or you are from a non EU country and you do have a registered company we will not add VAT tax tour fee. Totally your invoice will be for 30 EUR and you will receive in your bank account 170 EUR.
How do I set the benefits for my farm share package?
You can create a number of farm share packages with different benefits. It all depends on your farm produce, your annual expenses, the rewards you can give, the funds you seek, your local market prices, etc. This process might take a few days discussing it with the Farmhopping team but it is important to build the best backing plans that can both suit your needs and reward farmhoppers for their support.
When do I have to send the benefits to the farmhoppers?
You have a three month period to send/execute the promised benefits. You will receive your funds only after you have fulfilled all the benefits according to farm share package.
Is this the Final version of the website?
What you see now is our website alpha version. We will be launching our full functionality website in March where we will introduce many more cool and useful functionalities.
Will I keep all my farm’s details?
Yes. We will keep all your details and you will be able to edit them, modify your current Farm Share Packages and new ones.
I want to use farmhopping but I don’t have the time/skills. Can you help me?
No problem. Using farmhopping’s features is very easy and should not take much of your time. If you still don’t have the time or skills to do it we can help you and maintain your farm profile for you. In this case additional maintenance fees will apply according to what you want us to do for you. Just contact us.
What farms does farmhopping accept? Farm guidelines
All farms that are using responsible farming methods and strive towards sustainability are welcome aboard. It is important a farm to maintain adequate infrastructure such as grasslands, cattle pens, dairy facility, etc. It would be great (but obligatory) to have a guest house for welcoming your farmhoppers. We do not accept factory farms or farms that are using conventional methods for mass production. We do not accept farms that are using heavy chemical pesticides and herbicides.
Where can I find my IBAN?
You can find your IBAN (International Bank Account Number) on your bank statement or in your account details online. If you can't find it, ask your bank — they'll definitely know!

Anyone who has a special attitude towards farming, who is food conscious, who supports the idea for developing sustainable farming and who wishes to help and be part of this process.
What is a farmhopper?
A farmhopper is a registered user of www.farmhopping.com, who has chosen to support one or more farms by paying Getting a farm share package.
How can I become a farmhopper?
It’s easy! Just Register, check out Our Farms, choose your farm and you farm share package. Your money will be transferred to the farm’s bank account and you will receive your set of benefits.
I registered but I cannot find the confirmation mail.
If you cannot find your confirmation mail please, check your spam folder, it should be there. Please mark the message as “Not spam” so your mail box would know that messages from www.farmhopping.com are not spam.
I forgot my password, how do I retrieve it?
This is a limited version of our website and there is no option to retrieve your password. First check if you keep your confirmation mail from us at the time you registered, there you will find your password. If you do not keep this mail just Contact us, telling us the name or the e-mail with which you registered, we will delete your previous account and you can make a new one.
Do I as a supporting farmhopper have any actual ownership over the farm I support?
No. The farm shares that toy Get are virtual, but not actual. They are limited only to the benefits that you are specified in each farm share package and you have only the right to receive those benefits in due time.
The farms are obliged to send the farm share benefits to the supporting farmhoppers in a three month period after your payment. If they do not send the benefits in due time then your money will be refunded to you.
The farm you are supporting will send you a survey via email to request any info needed to deliver your reward (mailing address, T-shirt size, etc).
How do I pay to a Get a Farm Share Package?
You should have a PayPal account.
When is my PayPal account charged?
Your card or PayPal account will be charged immediately. We will hold your payment for up to 90 days before forwarding it to the farm to ensure that you will receive your benefits. If you do not receive your benefits accordingly you can open a dispute by writing to info@farmhopping.com
Is a farm legally obligated to fulfill the benefits set in the Farm Share Packages?
Yes. farmhopping’s Terms of Use and the Finder Fee Agreement require farms to fulfill all benefits or refund any farmhopper whose benefit they do not or cannot fulfill. We hope that farmhoppers will consider using this provision only in cases where they feel that a farm has not made a good faith effort to fulfil the benefits.
How do you guarantee that a farm is a real one?
When farms apply, we perform an admin check to establish whether the farm is real and if they practise sustainable production methods.
We request video and photographic evidence and consult our partnering organisations. We also perform a phone validation and address validation. There is, of course, a risk that a farm is not genuine and will not use the funds raised as stipulated. To tackle this dishonesty we have introduced the ‘Approved by farmhopping’ seal of approval. This is a sign that we put on farms we have personally visited, or have otherwise confirmed that they comply with our requirements. farmhopping provides a money back guarantee if a farm bearing the sign does not fulfill its obligations towards the supporting farmhoppers.
For all other farms, farmhoppers take on the risk in the case of non-delivery. We will always tirelessly seek to approve and certify every farm that approaches us for support.
How will farms get my info to deliver benefits?
At your checkout you will be prompted to fill in your delivery address. It is our job to forward this to the farm so you can receive your benefits.
Who is responsible for shipping my rewards?
It's the farm's responsibility send your benefits. farmhopping is not involved in the shipping process. farmhopping does not guarantee benefits or investigate a farm's ability to ship the promised benefits.
Is this the Final Version of the website?
What you see now is our website alpha version. We will be launching our full functionality website in March where we will introduce many more cool and useful functionalities.
What will the final website offer in terms of functionality?
You will be able to create your personal profile; to communicate with farms and fellow farmhoppers; to track your Farm Share Packages; post on your farm’s profiles wall (we call it Farmyard); rate farms and their Share Packages; participate in the forum topics and more.
Will I keep my current log in details when the final website launches?
Yes. You will be able to log in and no further registration will be required.
