At farmhopping, we harness the power of the community to get things done.
farmhopping bridges the gap between farms and city people all over the globe. We represent farms that have a sustainable model of production. Our ‘Virtual Co-operative’ allows farmers to “share” their farm with users (we call them farmhoppers!). We help farmhoppers channel financial contributions and know-how in supporting worldwide sustainable farming. We help them become part of the farms' everyday life and improve it even without their physical presence onsite.
Our Supporters: farmhoppers
- Interested in sustainable, nature-friendly farming, but lack the space, time, place or expertise to do it
- Committed to sharing the responsibilities for solving nature's contemporary challenges
- Advocates of sustainable farming and environmentally conscious business
- Seeking to gain eye-opening experiences working on farms and sharing the lives of those they support
- Willing to take part the life of small family or community-run farms around the globe and spend their holidays helping out in places of different cultures and traditions, enjoying the tangible benefits of their online activities.
Our Target: farms
An active community of farmhoppers
|Worldwide support for sustainable agriculture|
For farmhoppers we aim to create an opportunity to support and get involved in the production of fresh quality produce in a sustainable way.
We apply technology creatively in order to support equally cooperative consumption, sustainable agricultural practices and cultural exploration.
On our platform users don’t simply come to buy organic virgin oil. Instead they can
“join” an olive tree farm and “share” an olive tree; follow a farmer taking care of it every day;
visit "their" olive tree and learn how to take care of it for themselves; and even be part of the production of olive oil.
Alongside providing a great opportunity to source healthy food, we give farmhoppers worldwide the chance to learn about food, its traditions and the people who make it; to get involved in the day–to–day life of sustainable farms and thus create an open, worldwide nature-conscious social community.
Our main goal is to support small sustainable farms and communities by giving them an opportunity to access additional funding, launch natural products into new markets and converse with a pool of dedicated, supportive customers.
Through our unique structure, one of collaborative consumption and crowdfunding, we solve two of the main problems faced by farms:
finding and reaching customers and securing financing.
We do all this by channelling to the beneficiaries support not on a regional, but on a global level. And not by just marketing products or presenting business plans - but by sharing experiences and new cultures and traditions worldwide.
For farms this is a great way to get extra financing, tap into the intellectual resources of others, have a constant influx of new customers and partners and discover new markets for their business and products.
