Teddy and the Joy of Creation

08/01/2013

Hi, friends! My name is Teodora, but you can call me Teddy :) Let me start by telling you a bit about myself. I'm just an ordinary girl with interests in preserving nature, eating healthy food and living my life in a way that helps me grow – emotionally, rationally and creatively. I love to smile. In my opinion, smiling can help you overcome the stress and it can even cure illness. So, keep on smiling and don’t be afraid of being positive all the time.

The other thing I love is wearing colorful clothes. I usually wear  clothes in different, of course, matching colors or  I just put a colorful brooch on solid color clothes or wear a handmade scarf (if the weather allows it) in order to brighten up my day and look different. The most important thing however is to wear your clothes with pleasure and of course to smile a lot. Now, let’s talk about something I am really passionate about – the little woolen friends I make. I`m the creator of those lovely wool animals every pioneer farmhopper will receive. I have been working with natural wool for more than 5 years now. Since I was a little kid I've loved sewing clothes for my dolls and  crafting of any kind; I have made thousands of things with my hands and my imagination (and I still do). My work with wool came as a result of my interests in applied arts. Wool is a natural product and as such it is very interesting to work with.  It can be dyed in different colors and can be used in different variations. Even though you probably think of wool as something to keep you warm during the winter months, wool can be used not only for clothes but for other curious purposes. There are two ways of felting wool– a wet and a dry one. For the wet one you need hot water and soap. For the dry one you need special needles with a lot of slots on the edge . But no matter which way you will choose working with wool is a truly funny and enthralling work. And at the end what counts is creating something beautiful that you and your friends will like.

Besides making you and others a bit happier, creating stuff is maybe the best anti-stress technique that exists... writing, drawing, crafting, what is your passion? Please share your opinion in the comments section below.
