Walking around the farmer markets in London

06/10/2014

Ever since our UK team landed in London, we have been feeling overwhelmed with tasty temptations, amazed by this sea of endless opportunities for enthusiastic foodies. There is indeed an amazing and healthy something for every taste waiting around each and every corner, but nothing compares to farmers’ markets. We almost visited them all, determined to find the best producers out there, and you can’t just go and look, you sure have to taste for yourself. The farmers smile at you and eagerly welcome you to grab a bite, waiting to read the delight in your eyes. Make sure to express your praises as clearly as possible, and make a farmer’s day, just as he made yours.

So yes, we “rolled” around quite a few markets these last weeks, but it only got better this weekend, with one of our farmhoppers visiting the Fulham Festival of Food and Farming, a celebration of food as one of the tastiest indulgences. It wasn’t just about eating, there were initiatives for each taste. The best way to say our last farewells to a hot summer was with an outdoor screening of a movie strictly on the food topic of course, CHEF with Jon Favreau and Scarlett Johansson. For those not trusting their own culinary skills and for the hungry ones, there were plenty hot food stalls, with inviting dishes to help you go through a movie with such tasty views. Ciders, beer and cocktails only completed the idyll.

By “there was a little something for every taste” we mean games for the kids, cocktail and cake classes, a butchery demo, and of course, live music for a joyous mood. What better way to spend the weekend?

So hey, London, what are you preparing next?
